Description	:	In August 1878 Ane Vagle married Gabriel Byrne in Norway and with him came to America.In 1881 they came to this section of the country settling on a homestead south of kathryn where they were occupied with extensive farming interests up until about 22 years ago when they moved into Kathryn where she has made her home ever since. Being one of the pioneer of this section of the country, having some here about 50 years ago, she has experienced many hardships, which befell the first ones that came to inhabit the prairies of the northwest. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her departure seven daughters and two sons, viz: (Mary) Mrs.J. L. Birklid, Nome, N.D., (Lena) Mrs. Christ Helland, Ardill, Sask. Canada; (Bessie), Mrs. John Wenneson, Litchville, N.D.; Esten, Seattle, Wash; (Annie) Mrs. Harry Shefte, Harvey, N.D.; (Alma) Mrs. Theo Solheim, Kathryn; (Martha) Mrs. Nels bolme, Jamestown, N.D.; (Esther) Mrs. Henry Krueger, Jamestown, N.D. and Ambrosius, Kathryn.All the children were present Eston from Seattle.One daughter, Lilly, died when only a few weeks old, about 35 years ago and now rests in the Nordheim cemetery, where they own a lot. She is survived by 43 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, the oldest of these last named is 11 years old and is Marion Hendricks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hendricks of Fargo.She is the grandchild of Mrs. Birklid.Deceased is also survived by three sisters and one brother namely: Mrs. Andrew Vagl, Valley City, North Dakota, Mrs. John Engberg, Duluth Minn., Mrs. Martin Peterson, Valley City, N.D. and Thore Vagle in Norway. Funeral services were conducted at the St. Paul Church here in Kathryn, Monday March 16 at 2. pm and interment made in the Nordheim cemetery along side her little daughter, Lilly. Rev. Bue officiated. She was put to her last resting place by six of her grandsons, viz: Lars, Rolf and Edgar Birklid and Melvin and Harry Wenneson and Ernie Solheim. At the funeral service her grandson, Lars Birklid, rendered a very beautiful song.She was a dear and loving mother and will be greatly missed by her dear ones as well as all those who had known her all these years.Our sympathy goes out to the bereaved ones in this their, hour of sorrow.
