Annella Katherine (Jankord) Coyle was born April 3, 1930, at Florence, SD, to Henry and Katherine (Haas) Jankord. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Kranzburg, SD, where she attended school. She moved to Watertown, SD in the 1950s, and was a nanny for a period of time. Annella Katherine (Jankord) Coyle was born April 3, 1930, at Florence, SD, to Henry and Katherine (Haas) Jankord. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Kranzburg, SD, where she attended school. She moved to Watertown, SD in the 1950s, and was a nanny for a period of time. She then became a dietician at St. Ann’s Hospital in Watertown. She was united in marriage to Eugene Coyle on April 24, 1954, in Kranzburg, SD. The couple moved to Hartford, SD, where she became a loving mother, homemaker, and farmwife. Annella kept her days busy with many activities on the farm. In addition to all the farming chores, she managed the records for their dairy herd, and was a bookkeeper for the farm and the family taxidermist business. When time allowed, the couple enjoyed taking trips to Boston, Chicago, Denver and Arizona. Following retirement in 2000, the couple moved to Sioux Falls. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society for over forty years. She always looked forward to summertime when she could plant her flower gardens. Annella enjoyed keeping a clean house, and loved cooking for her family. Affectionately known as “Ma,” she became like a second mother to her children’s friends. Annella’s accepting and friendly spirit will be forever cherished. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Gene Coyle, Sioux Falls, SD; sons, Mike (Cheryl) Coyle, Springfield, SD, Kenny (Becc) Coyle, Yankton, SD, Kevin Coyle, Hartford, SD; daughters, Mary (John) Burke, Highland Ranch, CO and Teresa (Alan) Sterrett, Rapid City, SD; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Francis, Joseph, Vincent, Hubert; one brother in infancy; and her sister, Mary. Mass of Resurrection will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday April 16, 2015, at St. George Catholic Church in Hartford, SD. Visitation begins at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 and a 6:00 Prayer Service and Rosary on Wednesday evening at Miller Funeral Home, Hartford Chapel, 600 S. Western Avenue, Hartford, SD. Interment will be at St. George Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. George Catholic Church Building Fund.
