Read More	Annette Hardee Swearingen (81) passed away on the 14th of February 2016 in Bradenton, FL after extensive illness. She was born to Alice Beville Hardee and Samuel Fletcher 'S.F.' Hardee Jr. of Hague, FL on the 21st of September 1934. She attended elementary and high school in Alachua, FL and the University of Florida in Gainesville where she was a member of Gamma Delta chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Mrs. Swearingen served as a secretary in the Dean's office of the College of Education at UF and then as a clerk for the Tax Collector of Alachua County for 15 years. In 1956, Mrs. Swearingen married Jerry D. Swearingen, an electrical engineer who was transferred to Gainesville when the Sperry-Rand Corp. built a new electronics plant. They were married at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville by 'Preacher' Ulysses S. Gordon. In 1975, she and her husband and others were co-founders of Biomega Corporation in Gainesville, a medical devices company pioneering in non-invasive portable electronic blood pressure and pulse monitoring devices. She served as Office Manager, Controller, and various other capacities in the early days of the company, including personally making custom blood pressure cuffs on evenings and weekends. Mrs. Swearingen was active in community affairs and became a licensed real estate salesperson. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Alachua General Hospital, and was a volunteer member of the Florida State Museum located an the campus of UF. One of her special interests was the Winn Dixie Hope Lodge for families of cancer patients. She followed her passion for nature and flowers by becoming an early member and officer of Begonia Circle of the Gainesville Garden Club and won many awards in competitive flower arranging and became a National Garden Club Accredited Master Flower Show Judge. She judged local, national and international Flower Shows. Upon her retirement, she was honored by her peers to become an Emeritus Lifetime Member. Included in her hobbies of sewing, cooking, and collecting antiques, Mrs. Swearingen was a member of the International Swarovski Crystal Collectors Society. After retirement, the Swearingens traveled by motor home to all of the contiguous US states and provinces of Canada. Mrs. Swearingen is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, a brother Sam Hardee III and wife Shirley of Bradenton, FL, nieces Saundra Hardee Blanco and family of Bradenton, Susan Hardee Yancey and family of Madison, NY, a brother-in-law Kent W. Swearingen and wife Jackie of Rochester, MN, nephews Brian D. Swearingen and family of Toquerville, UT, Eric T. Swearingen and family of Inver Grove Heights, MN, members of the Bailey-Hardee family of Sarasota, FL, and members of the Beville family of the Gainesville area. Services will be graveside on Saturday the 20th of February 2016 at 11:00 am under the direction of Milam Funeral Home on the Hardee Family plot at Antioch Baptist Church.
