She was the last member of her family of 13 children Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Lector will be Ed Murphy, gift bearers will be Amy Schumacher and Lori Schroeder, and Eucharistic minister will be Janis Schroeder. Casket bearers will be Leon Sohm, Richard Dirkx, Robert Dirkx, Kim Barkmeier, Keith Barkmeier and Tony Schroeder. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. today at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. Rosary will be recited at the funeral home today at 3 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Legion of Mary and at 8 p.m. Born Dec. 4, 1909, in Graettinger, Iowa, Mrs. Hannasch was a daughter of Theodore and Mary (Coon) Dirkx. She completed eighth grade at Breda. As a young woman she remained at home taking care of her parents until her marriage to Louis B. Hannasch on Feb. 7, 1949, in Waterloo. Following her marriage she worked with her husband at the Hannasch Jack Sprat Grocery and the Hannasch Super Value stores in Carroll. She was widely known for preparing wedding cakes. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Lawrence Guild, St. Anthony Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Legion of Mary Auxiliary. Mrs. Hannasch is survived by her husband, Louis B. Hannasch, of Carroll; nieces, Janice and her husband, Rev. Mr. William Schroeder, of Knoxville and Bonnie and her husband, K.C. Barkmeier, of Lake City; many other nieces and nephews; five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elmer Dirkx, Leone Culbertson, Alma (Mrs. Ernest) Hermson, Margaret Hannasch and Catherine (Mrs. Roman) Potthoff; and two brothers-in-law, Christ Hannasch and Peter Hannasch and his wife Jan. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Elizabeth Dick, Leonella Sohm, Lucina Shepherd, Sister M. Dolora Dirkx and Josephine Hannasch; and seven brothers, Lawrence and Anton, both in infancy, and Clarence, Joseph, Emmit, Ray and Elmer. (Carroll Times Herald, Carroll, IA, March 6, 1989)
