Annette Marie (Sommer) Zastrow was born February 16, 1929 on a farm northeast of Cordova, Nebraska to John Peter Lorenz and Mimi Marie (Nielsen) Sommer, one of four children. She passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 10 days. As a young girl she attended country school and graduated with the class of 1945 from Cordova High School and continued her education at Concordia College in Seward. She taught country school briefly. On December 4, 1949, Annette was united in marriage to Richard August Zastrow at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cordova. To this union, five children, David, Gary, Cindy, Steve and Mary were born. Annette was a busy homemaker and mother raising her children. She also found time to work part-time at Warren Memorial Hospital as a nurse aide and worked many years at Stych Locker in Cordova. In later years she also worked as a hospice assistant for Tabitha. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Annette enjoyed traveling to see her children across the country and she also was privileged to travel to Germany twice. Annette was an avid Kansas City Royals baseball fan. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Dorcas Circle, and the American Legion Auxiliary, all in Cordova. She is survived by her children and spouses, David and Sheri Zastrow, Cindy and Max Jordan, Steve and Sue Zastrow, Mary and Joe Horky, ; nine grandchildren and spouses, Brad Zastrow, Kelly and Andrej Ciric, Tim Zastrow, Alex and Erin Jordan, Adam and Kristen Jordan, Meredith and Michael Eaton, Lindsey and Joey Bauer, Tyler Horky, Tia Horky, eight great-grandchildren, Andrej, Karina and Alek Ciric, Rachel, August and Amelia Jordan, Isaiah and Violet Eaton, sister-in-law, Marge Sommer and many other relatives and friends. Annette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard in 2010, son, Gary, granddaughter, Sarah Jordan and grandson, Ryan Zastrow, two brothers, Gerheart and Jacob Sommer and an infant sister.
