Ridings, and swiftly took from his home the wife, it was a great shock to the community. Anne Dean Ridings, daughter of William and Amanda Sidener, was born September 7, 1867 and departed this life February 23, 1928. She was united in marriage to Joseph L. Ridings February 12, 1888. To this union six children were born, two dying in infancy. She leaves to mourn, her husband, J. L. Ridings, the children, Leonard Ridings of Clarence, Missouri; Mrs. U. L. Knight and Mrs. F. J. Templeman, of Chicago, and Clarence Ridings, of River Grove, Illinois, one brother, Porter Sidener, of New Florence, Missouri, five grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends. She professed faith in Christ and united with the Methodist church early in life and was a member of the Center Street Methodist Church at the time of her death. Mrs. Ridings always had a kindly word for those she met and a cheerful disposition. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially the lonely companion and immediate family. The pastor, Rev. L. C. Maggart, spoke of the two aspects of human life, as illustrated by the Palm and the Willow. Rev. S. Knupp assisted in the funeral. The large church was crowded to its capacity, and the floral tributes were many, gorgeous and beautiful. The flower girls were Misses Maxine Parvin, Mary Annis Roy, ruby Walker, Floy Bilbro and Mrs. Clarence Bunn. The pall bearers, Frank Griswold, John Cox, H. R. Combs, E. N. Maupin, Alvin Eberhard and Art Sherwood. Mrs. Everett Sage at the piano, accompanist, the octette, Mesd. Bergfield, Maggart Hamstreet, and Wright, Messers, Hamrick, Hughes, Garlow and Davis sung "The Lord is My Sheperd," "The Home of the Soul," and "Meet Me There," amid the soft straines of music, slowly the casket was removed from the church alter and conveyed to the beautiful Clarence cemetery where the last rites were performed and all that was mortal of Mrs. Ridings was tenderly laid to rest to await the resurrection day.
