Henderson Gold Leaf, Thursday, 04 May 1905, pg 3: Death of Mrs. James Amos Mrs. Annie Beacom Amos, wife of Mr. James Amos, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, died at her home in Henderson at 10 o'clock Friday morning, April 28th. She was sick about two weeks, the immediate cause of death being pleurisy. While she had not been well for a month, she got over the first attack when the second one came which terminated fatally. Mrs. Amos was a daughter of the late Robert Beacom and was 36 years old. She had been married about seven years but had no children. Besides her husband she leaves one brother and one sister, Mr. Hamilton Beacom and Miss Clara Beacom. Mrs. Amos was a good woman, kind, neighborly, gentle and affectionate - a thoughtful, loving, helpful mother to the motherless little children that were in the home by a previous marriage when she assumed the relation of step-mother to them. She was devoted to her home and its domestic duties and it was there that her beautiful traits of character were best exemplified. Those who knew her best loved her most. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Rev. J.H. Henderlite conducting the service. The attendance was large, many persons coming from the country. The funeral procession was one of the largest seen in Henderson. The floral tributes were beautiful and profuse typical of the life and kindly deeds of the dead. The pall bearers were H.W. Crews, A.C. Zollicoffer, William Buchan, K.W. Edwards, E.W. Ellis, Col. Henry Perry An escort of ladies acted as honorary pall bearers. and carried flowers. Interment was made at the cemetery. A.T. Barnes, undertaker. ----------
