The marriage record states that Ella was 17-years old at the time of the marriage. This would be consistent with her reported age on the 1885 Nebraska State Census, which recorded her age at 14-years old. The 1900 US Census taken in Nemaha Precinct, Bennett Village, Lancaster, Nebraska, states that Ella was born in February of 1873; had 5 living children at the time; had given birth to 7 children; notes her birthplace as being Illinois; her father's birthplace being New York and her mother's birthplace being Illinois. Living in the household at the time were children Siba (Mary Pearl) Hensley, daughter, age 10, born in Nebraska, Guy W Hensley, son, age 9, born in Nebraska, Freda W. Hensley, daughter, age 6, born in Nebraska, Eva B Hensley, daughter, age 5, born in Nebraska, and Gene T Hensley, son, age 3 , born in Nebraska. The 1910 US Census, taken in Avoca, Cass County, Nebraska, shows the addition of five children: Ruth F. Hensley, daughter, age 10, born in Nebraska, Eddie A. Hensley, son, age 6, born in Nebraska, Ada D. Hensley, daughter, age 5, born in Nebraska, Leo Hensley, son, age 3, born in Nebraska, and Lola Hensley, daughter, newborn, born in Nebraska. This would bring the number of living children during the 1910 US Census to 11. Ella passed at the young age of 42 leaving her husband and several young children behind. Her oldest daughter, Mary Pearl, raised her siblings and was said to be a living Saint. Her husband, Edgar, never remarried and passed away at the age of 94.
