Burial was in the Nevada cemetery. Obituary Annie E. daughter of John H. and Kate Bordner Shammo, was born in Story county on November 11, 1878, and passed away at the home of her son Iver S. Cook, early Wednesday morning, December 13, at the age of 72 years, one month and two days. Annie received her education in the rural schools of Story county and after finishing the elementary school she was ambitious for more schooling and higher learning. She attended Normal school at Cedar Falls and taught in the rural schools of Nebraska and Iowa. She was converted in early childhood and gave her heart and her life to the Lord Jesus Christ. She united with the Methodist church and was a life-time loyal and faithful member. She worked in many departments of the church, taught several different Sunday school classes, sang in the choir, took an active part in the prayer meetings, the Aid society and the Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary societies. So interested was she in missions that she traveled over the Boone District filling the pulpits at the morning and evening worship hour periods and taking the "Thank Offerings," for the various societies. She was a member of the Loyal Sisters Sunday school class and gave of her time, talent and finances for the further promotion of God's Kingdom. She was united in marriage to Jesse A. Cook, September 20, 1900. To this union three sons were born, Dr. J. Merrill Cook of Pella, Iver S. of Nevada and J. Willard of Ogden, Utah. Some few years ago her eyesight began to fail and at the time of her death she was totally blind. Her husband preceded her in death a little over a year ago, on October 13, 1949. Her parents and one sister, Mrs. William Handsaker of Nevada have also preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing the three sons, one brother William H. Shammo of Hudson, Colo., one sister, Mrs. Arnold Elze of Pueblo, Colo., three grandchildren, John Jewell Cook, Judith Ann Cook of Pella, and R. Willard Cook of Nevada, together with many other relatives and scores of friends.
