Robinson, she was 19, and brought to the marriage a little daughter, Wanda, who was born about 1924 in Missouri. Times were tough in the 1930's, and by 1940, the family was living in Tekamah, Burt County, Nebraska. Merlin was taking care of the cemetery, and doing road building and tree planting for the civilian public service. Merlin instilled a love of nature into the family. Their son, Roger, became sexton of the Tekamah Cemetery, and was known for his own love of nature. By 1940. Wanda was now gone from the family. Jean, the next oldest, was still home, at age 18, but quit school after the 7th grade. The rest of the children continued in school--their son Roger even entered high school.
