Description	:	ANNIE GRACE SHANK HARTMAN, 89, died at 10:45 a.m. Sept. 24, 2005, at Lima Convalescent Home. She was born March 15, 1916, in Mount Crawford, Va., to James and Lydia Lahman Shank, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 9, 1941, at Weavers Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg, Va., she married Marvin Hartman, who survives. Mrs. Hartman was a homemaker. She was born March 15, 1916, in Mount Crawford, Va., to James and Lydia Lahman Shank, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 9, 1941, at Weavers Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg, Va., she married Marvin Hartman, who survives. Mrs. Hartman was a homemaker. She was a member of Pike Mennonite Church, where she was involved in the Sewing Circle and taught Bible school and Sunday school. She was known for her hospitality, often inviting guests to dinner. She was particularly known for her exceptional quilts and fine stitches. She began quilting as a teenager and continued her craft until a few years before her death. She always had a quilt in the frame and most often her quilts were given to family and donated to raise money for relief efforts of the Mennonite Central Committee. Along with quilting, she enjoyed fine dishes, gardening and making apple butter along with canning fruits and vegetables. Her homemade chocolate fondant drops were a favorite with the family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors also include three sons, Dwayne (Dorothy) Hartman of Harrisonburg, Va., and Dwight (Ginny) Hartman and Bill (LaVonne) Hartman, both of Elida; a daughter, Janet Hartman of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren, Tonia (Preston) Hedrick, Tim Hartman, Kenric Hartman, Tina Hartman and Megan (Vince) Throngard; and a great-grandson, Drew Hartman. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Archie, James, Boyd and Byard Shank; and seven sisters, Bertha Beery, Lilly Shank, Mary Beery, Pearl Brenneman, Fannie Heatwole, Ada Shank and Olive Shank. Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pike Mennonite Church. The Rev. Philip Clemans will officiate. Burial will be in Pike Cemetery.
