Sievers, 81, died after an extended illness Monday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Mary Pundt, of 625 Bowery Street, where she had made her home. She was the widow of John H. Sievers. Mrs. Sievers was born on April 5, 1871, at West Liberty. She married Mr. Sievers, of Gilman, on December 9, 1891, and the couple established their home in Gilman. Sievers, 81, died after an extended illness Monday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Mary Pundt, of 625 Bowery Street, where she had made her home. She was the widow of John H. Sievers. Mrs. Sievers was born on April 5, 1871, at West Liberty. She married Mr. Sievers, of Gilman, on December 9, 1891, and the couple established their home in Gilman. Later the family lived in South Dakota and in California. After Mr. Sievers' death in 1924, Mrs. Sievers and her family came to Iowa City in 1927. She was a member of the Iowa Woman's Club and of the First English Lutheran Church. Survivors include two sons, Lester Sievers of Iowa City, and Col. H.L. Sievers of Arlington, Virginia, and two grandchildren, Jack and Barbara Sievers, students at the University of Iowa and children of Colonel and Mrs. Sievers. Also surviving in addition to Mrs. Pundt, is a sister, Mrs. Ralph Manley, also of Iowa City. In addition to Mrs. Sievers, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services at the Oathout Funeral Chapel, Rev. George T.L. Jacobsen of the First English Lutheran Church officiating. Burial at Gilman. Added 26 Dec 2021
