Description	:	Annie Mae Parrish "Prissy" Pyrtle, 104, of 326 S. 5th Avenue, went to be with her Father in Heaven on Tuesday morning, June 2, 2015, at her home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2015m at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Jessup officiating. Interment will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Pyrtle was born the last of 11 children on February 16, 1911 in Rockingham County, to the late Benton Parrish and Mary Agnes Powell Parrish. Anne Mae was a home maker and a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was the backbone of her family. She raised a family of 6 children alone after the death of her husband, John Weldon Pyrtle, Sr., working as a tobacco farmer and as a former employee of Madison Throwing and Burlington Industries. Annie Mae loved working in the dirt, growing her flowers and her garden. Nothing made her happier than taking care of her family and she made sure no one ever left her home hungry. She was of the Baptist faith and was the oldest member of First Baptist Church of Mayodan. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Lonnie Pyrtle and Johnny Pyrtle; daughter, Rachel Chambers; brothers, Ernest, Rob, Gene and Gorrell Parrish; sisters, Ruby Bullins, Ethel Knight, Blanche Vaughn and Mildred Parrish; and grandsons, Donald Lundy and Keith Pyrtle. Survivors include son, Phillip Wray Pyrtle, Sr. of Mayodan; daughters, Stella Bramlett of Winston-Salem and Mildren Dunlap of Mayodan; a very special grandson, Phillip Wray Pyrtle, Jr., and his partner Dennis Dalton, Jr., of the home; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and two special companions, Little Bit and Damen.
