Description	:	Annie Ruth Smith Whitaker, 74, of 803 W. Seventh Ave., wife of the late Samuel Whitaker, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Oakmont West Nursing Center. Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Mack and Vera Melwee Smith Smith, Mrs. Whitaker retired from Woodside Mills in Easley, and was a member of Ruhamah Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Knight of Laurens, Linda Rhodes of Liberty, and Brenda Adams of Laurens; a granddaughter reared in the home, Crystal Rackley, of Toccoa, Ga.; two brothers, Dewitt Smith of Liberty, and Gary Smith of Seneca; and three sisters, Grace Towe of Clemson, Laura Mae Traynum of Pendleton, and Margaret Miller of Easley; five stepdaughters, Florence Hart, Verena Hardy, Janie Gentry and Frances Self, all of Anderson, and Wilma Rhymes of Liberty; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Whitaker was predeceased by a son, Donnie Whitaker. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lewis Edwards and the Rev. Jimmy Anthony officiating. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The body is at Robinson Funeral Home in Easley, where the family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.
