Memorial services were held April 3 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton, Missouri, with Annis' cousin, Gary Keller officiating. Inurnment of her cermains will be held at a later date at the Hamilton Cemetery near Pleasanton, Iowa. Obituary - ANNIS LORETTA HAMILTON GROOMS ... On February 1, 1936, Annis Loretta Hamilton began life in Decatur County, Iowa. She was born in a farm house, delivered by her Dad, because of weather conditions the doctor didn't arrive until after her birth! Her parents were Roscoe John Hamilton and Leta Fay [Mark] Hamilton. Annis departed this earth to be with her Lord on March 31, 2008, at Liberty Missouri Hospital. Annis was raised in Mercer County near Pleasanton, Iowa. At 16 she left home for Colorado, lived and worked for a cousin in that area. After marriage to Larry Flora, she spent many years on the west coast - Oregon and Washington. To this marriage 5 sons were born: Roscoe Lee Flora (wife, Nonette), Edward Dean Flora, Michael Gene Flora (wife, Stacy), Anthony James Flora an Donald Dale Flora. They later divorced and she married Edward Grooms. To this union, 3 children were born: twins, Thomas Shane (wife Linda), Sonya Carol, and Melody Ann who died at birth. Later Annis returned to Iowa-Missouri area. She continued to raise her children, and went into the nursing field. Annis worked as an EMT for Mercer County Ambulance and North Harrison Ambulance. Annis was a compassionate person. Many children considered her home as their's! She fed them and made sure they had a place to sleep. None were turned away. As an LPN nurse, she was a geriatrics care-giver who felt much empathy for any in pain. Annis was preceded in death by her dad, Roscoe; her brothers, Donald and Darrell Hamilton; her infant daughter, Melody Grooms; three nephews, J.C. and Michael Judd and Than Hagan; and a niece, Peggy Jo Hamilton. Survivors left behind are her mother, Leta Hamilton; two sisters, Cecile Judd and husband Chester, Helen Hagan Tennyson and husband Tom; two sisters-in-law, Darlene and Jean Hamilton; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three former daughters-in-law who she loved as her own, Darlene Flora, Tambie Moore and Roberta Walters; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
