Read More	CLAFLIN — Anthony (Tony) Albert Hoffman, 82, died Oct. 7 at Golden Living Center in Wilson. Born Dec. 9, 1927, in rural Claflin, he was the son of Anton and Winifred (Dolechek) Hoffman. He graduated in 1945 from Claflin High School, and attended Wichita State University, was a member of ROTC, and the University of Kansas. On June 1, 1950, he married Caroline Birzer in Hoisington. A lifetime resident of rural Claflin, he was a farmer/stockman and an adjuster for Federal Crop Insurance. Mr. Hoffman was a member of the St. Catherine Catholic Church and Holy Name Society of Dubuque, the Holy Family Catholic Church in Odin, Past Grand Knight and 4th Degree Member of the Odin Knights of Columbus, President of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity, former trustee of Cleveland Township and served on the board of directors at Beaver Grain Corporation in Beaver. Survivors include his wife, of the home; six sons, Larry Hoffman and wife Chris of Shawnee, Mark Hoffman and wife Guia of Kempton, Ill., Brian Hoffman and wife Bernie of Claflin, Keith Hoffman and wife Ann of Raymore, Mo,, Craig Hoffman and wife Shelly of Wichita, and Brent Hoffman and wife Elizabeth of Spring Hill; two daughters, Linda Hoffman and husband Robert Hasler of Oakland, Calif., and Pamela (Hoffman) Wirth and husband David of Ellinwood; a brother, Victor Hoffman of Hoisington; 29 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Catherine Catholic Church in Dubuque with Father Charles Mazouch officiating. Burial will be at the St. Catherine Cemetery in Dubuque. Friends may visit from 1-9 p.m. today with vigil service followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m., all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Memorials are suggested to Dubuque Heritage Association and the Claflin Ambulance Fund, in care the funeral home.
