Anthony Duesing was a machinist in the Navy, and it is believed he was aboard a Navy BPY boat that was shot down in the Alaskan or Aleutian Island area over a year ago. At first, he was listed as missing in action, and later came unofficial news that he was a prisoner of the Japanese.1 Anthony Henry Duesing was the fifth of seven children born to Joseph and Caroline Nau Duesing. He was born in Spearville on September 10, 1920, where he attended and graduated from the local school. He was married to Angelina (Ann) Stegman and they were the parents of one daughter. On December 12, 1939, Anthony enlisted in the US Navy with Patrol Squadron Forty-One. He was on a routine night patrol flight in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska when his plane was shot down.
