Description	:	Anthony (Tony) Wernimont, 78, of Auburn died about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Loring Hospital, Sac City, where he had been a patient for 2 1/2 weeks. Requiem mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Church, Auburn, by the Rev. Gerald Wingert. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mr. Wernimont, a son of William and Katherine Waltz Wernimont, was born Feb. 8, 1894, at Breda and spent his youth there. He received his education at Breda and taught in rural schools near Carroll for two years. On Feb. 13, 1917, he was married to Agnes Gehling at SS. Peter and Paul Church, Carroll. They farmed three miles south of Auburn and then for a short time in the Coon Rapids area. Mr. Wernimont then owned and operated an elevator at Manning. In 1933 they moved to a farm near Storm Lake, and lived in that area until retiring and moving to Auburn in 1959. He was a member of St. Mary's Church here. Surviving are two sons, Marcellus of Rembrandt and Cleo of Auburn; two daughters, Sr. Agnes Wernimont of Kuemper High School, Carroll, and Mrs. Thomas (Anna) Cox of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 22 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving are five brothers, George Wernimont of Auburn, Victor and Joseph Wernimont of Elkton, Minn., and Albert Wernimont of Breda; and four sisters, Mrs. Hubert (Helen) Hagemann Sr. of Lidlerdale; Sr. Adalrica, S. Sp. S. (Rose) of Techney,Ill.; Mrs. Ted (Teresa) Weimar of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mrs. Ernest (Josephine) Triever of Des Moines. Mr. Wernimont was preceded in death by his wife in October, 1969; also by two brothers and three sisters. (Times Herald, Carroll, IA, October 5, 1972)
