Description	:	Anthony J. Montarro, age 96 of Stratford, died on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at St. Vincent Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Chacho) Montarro. He was born in Bridgeport to the late Pasquale and Dora (Mandeline) Montarro. Mr. Montarro was stationed in Hawaii prior to World War II with the U. S. Army and then served in the Naval Reserve and the National Guard. He was a lifetime member of the Navy League. Mr. Montarro retired from General Electric where he had been employed for 37 years. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Chacho) Montarro. He was born in Bridgeport to the late Pasquale and Dora (Mandeline) Montarro. Mr. Montarro was stationed in Hawaii prior to World War II with the U. S. Army and then served in the Naval Reserve and the National Guard. He was a lifetime member of the Navy League. Mr. Montarro retired from General Electric where he had been employed for 37 years. He was a Knights of Columbus, 4th degree, Assembly 140, Park City. Mr. Montarro served as an usher at Our Lady of Grace Church and had been a member of the Baldwin Center. Survivors include three beloved children, Anthony P. Montarro of Stratford, Joyce Weglarz and her husband, Michael, of Deerfield Beach, FL and Robert B. Montarro and his partner, Gerrit Timmer, of Lighthouse Point, FL; two sisters, Frances Demsick of Seymour and Mary Cadwell of Bridgeport; two brothers, Leon Montarro of Trumbull and Patsy Montarro of Easton; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In additon to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Joan Thomas; one brother, Bruno Montarro; and three sisters, Rose Orlovsky, Yolanda Wessel and Catherine Perrone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Interment in St. John Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make contributions in his memory to International Dementia Research Foundation, P.O.
