Description	:	Tony Riesberg, 84 of Carroll, died early Wednesday morning, December 10, 2014 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Anthony “Tony” Riesberg was born on January 31, 1930 at Templeton, Iowa the son of Anton and Mary (Sondgeroth) Riesberg. He spent his younger years in the Templeton area and attended Sacred Heart Schools, later helping his family with their farm operation. Anthony “Tony” Riesberg was born on January 31, 1930 at Templeton, Iowa the son of Anton and Mary (Sondgeroth) Riesberg. He spent his younger years in the Templeton area and attended Sacred Heart Schools, later helping his family with their farm operation. Tony served in the United States Army from 1951-1953 and following his honorable discharge returned to the Carroll area. On October 20, 1953 he married Rose Bekehermes at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dedham. The couple lived near Dedham for a brief time while Tony worked as a farm hand. Tony and Rose then moved to an acreage near Mt. Carmel where he worked for Wiedemeier Farms and also was employed at Carroll Manufacturing until his retirement. In his spare time Tony enjoyed reading, watching television, playing cards, and dancing in his younger years. Tony was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll. Survivors include his wife Rose of Carroll; his daughters: Sandy Riesberg of Des Moines, Jeanette Liddicoat of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Grabill and her husband Oscar of Des Moines, Judi Gunderson and her husband John of Woodward, and Carol Stubbbe and her husband Ken of Glidden; his daughter-in-law, Kathy Venner of Arcadia; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; his sisters: Lillian Ferneding of Carroll and Irma Grote of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; his sons: Larry, Dan, and Mark Riesberg; his sisters: Helen Schweers, and Elizabeth Willenborg; and his brothers: Clarence, Walter, Andrew, Lester, Hilbert, and Fr. Leo Riesberg. ∼Tony Riesberg, 84 of Carroll, died early Wednesday morning, December 10, 2014 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lectors for the funeral mass will be: Michelle Riesberg, Kelly Stubbe and Melissa Riesberg. Gift Bearers will be: Kim Best, Kayla Marvin, Cassidy Stubbe, and Tico Gunderson. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Janyne Liddicoat and Justin Liddicoat. Casket Bearers will be: Devon Riesberg, Kelly Riesberg, Brad Riesberg, Travis Riesberg, Josh Gunderson, Eric Gunderson, JJ Stubbe, and Nick Stubbe. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt. Carmel with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a rosary 3:30 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 4:30 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 a.m. on Monday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for Holy Spirit Church or Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Tony’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.
