K, 54th New York Infantry "The Independent" (Piedmont, W.Va.), Friday 20 March 1908: "Mr. Anthony Schwarzer of Westernport departed this life on last Monday evening at 9 o'clock after being confined to his bed for three weeks. He had been a sufferer of Arights disease and dropsy. He was a great Christian man and had many friends. He was born in Prussia, Germany and had lived in Westernport for 37 years. The funeral took place Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Peter's church interment in Catholic cemetery. He leaves a wife and six children to survive him. The pall bearers... "The Herald" (Piedmont, W.Va.), Friday 20 March 1908: "Mr. Anthony Schwartz [Schwarzer] died at his home at the upper end of Westernport at half past nine o'clock Monday night 16 March 1908 of dropsy, with which he had been suffering some time, aged about 60 years. He was a native of Germany but had long been a citizen of Westernport. He was a freight conductor on the C. & P. railroad for many years. He is survived by a widow, three sons and three daughters. The funeral took place Wednesday morning from St. Peter's Catholic Church."
