Had Been Resident of Kansas for Seventy Years — Was Seriously Ill Only One Week. Anthony Heidrick, 93, well known Madison pioneer, died saturday, July 13, 1946, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. leonard Shunk, in Madison, after a serious illness of a week. He had been in failing health for several years. he had lived at his home in northwest Madison alone for many years, but a few weeks ago had gone to the home of his daughter to live, due to failing health. Anthony Heidrick was born at Lawrenceville, Indiana, on August 26, 1852, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leonard Shunk, in Madison on Saturday, July 13, 1946. He had reached the age of 93 years, 10 months, and 12 days. Anthony Heidrick was the son of Christopher Heidrick and Elizabeth Hines Heidrick. He moved from Lawrenceville to Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and later came to Emporia, Kansas. Here he worked for some time, later moving to Olpe, Kansas, where he worked for the late Daniel Bitler. While there he was married to Cora Bitler on April 8, 1875. To this union six sons and one daughter were born. Two sons, Charles L. and T. Preston Heidrick preceded him in death; and his wife died July 27, 1898. He moved to Madison from Olpe where he had been located until his death. After his wife's death he managed for some time to carry on his work of farming and caring for his children. On September 15, 1903, he was married to Mary Flowers. She passed away on March 15, 1930. Mr. Heidrick had been a resident of Kansas for 70 years. He was a member of the local Odd Fellows lodge for many years. he was road overseer for Madison Township for several years and the roads and bridges at that time proved his ability in accomplishing his work. He is survived by four sons and one daughter: Frank S. Heidrick of madison; William D. Heidrick of Emporia; Dr. Daniel L. Heidrick of Mercedes, Texas; Mrs. Elizabeth Shunk of Madison, and George W. Heidrick of Virgil. He also leaves to mourn his passing, 23 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a host of friends in this community. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Madison on Tuesday, July 16, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. Wilbur Hadley, pastor of the church. Interment was in Blakely Cemetery. Mrs. Harold Engle and Mrs. Geo. Hyle sang, accompanied by Mrs. C. B. Myers. Pallbearers were Geo. W. Ott, John Garst, Ed Hayden, Joe Harris, H. E. Springstead, and L. A. Ausemus. Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the funeral included: Mrs. and Mrs. G. L. Soule, Emporia; Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Heidrick, Emporia; Weldon Heidrick, Wichita; Mrs. and Mrs. Wm. A. Shunk and son, Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Brown, Admire; Mrs. and Mrs. Rolla C. Myers, Emporia; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Heidrick and family, Osage City; Mrs. and Mrs. R. S. Shunk, Wichita; Mrs. Tony Willcut and Virginia, Wichita; Mrs. and Mrs. A. Bailey, Emporia; Mrs. Wm. Shields, Emporia; Miss Betty McGill, emporia, and James O. Shunk, Lebo.
