He was a member of the first Grand Jury impaneled in Decatur Co. IA. His ministry covered a period of over 30 years in Northern Missouri and Southern Iowa. He helped organize the East Grand River Association at Belford, IA. He was a soldier in the Black Hawk-Seminole wars. He drew a pension from his brother's service who was killed in the Black Hawk war. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on 3 April 1853 at the New Garden Church in Decatur Co. IA. Born to Wynant and Margaret Carver Vanderpool, Anthony was the third of eight sons born to this couple. Anthony married Easter Stanley on Jan 1, 1837, in Ray Co., MO. They were the parents of 10 children, three dying in infancy. They were: Mallett who died near Springfield, MO. at age 20 in the Civil War, Mary Ann who married Jacob Willis and died in Chariton Co., MO., Caroline, Gillium who married Lucinda and is buried in New Salem Cem, Decatur Co., IA., John who married Rebecca C. Adams and is buried in the Grand River Cem. IA., Alfred who married Caroline, Oliver and the 3 unidentified babies. After Anthony's wife, Easter died in 1882, he went on to marry Elizabeth Comstock in 1884. He fought in the Seminole and the Blackhawk Wars and drew pensions for both.
