Burial was in St. John's Church Cemetery. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home was in charge. Anton Benjamen Petersen Miller, son of the late Peter and Kirsten Miller was born Dec. 19, 1889 in Fredsville, Cedar Falls, Iowa. With the family he moved to Hampton in 1892 and settled on the farm in Hamilton Township which Peter Miller had purchased from his father, Morgens Miller, and which became the family home throughout the years. Benjamin, known as A.B.P., attended the rural schools of Hamilton Township. In youth he was interested in gymnastics and rode horseback many winter nights to class in Latimer conducted by Peter Faber and enjoyed by a group of young men of St. John's Church and community. He attended a winter course in adult education sponsored by St. John's Church, held in the Parish Hall. He attended two winter sessions at Grand View College, Des Moines. In 1917 he enlisted for service in World War I and received officers training at Camp Dodge, Des Moines and at Fort Knox, Louisville, Ky. Until the Armistice in Nov. 1918. In 1925 he was married to Antonie Ljungman of Viborg, S.D. To them was born one son, Erling Peter Miller who entered service in the Korean war. He died in 1952 in a plane accident in Seoul, Korea. Mr. Miller took an active part in the work of St john's Church as President of Council, and Youth Peoples Organization, besides taking a healthy interest in the work of the community as President of Coulter Creamery, triple A Board, Hamilton Middle ward School Board and County Fair Board. Mr. and Mrs. Miller retired in 1974 to a home in Hampton where they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1975. Mrs. Miller died in 1979. On Oct. 29, 1983, Mr. Miller died after several years of declining health. Preceding him in death were his wife, Antonie, their son, Erling, his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his brother, Ezra, Hampton, sisters, Mrs. P.L. Lund (Mitte), Anna Miller and Mrs. Hans Egede (Ida), Hampton, Mrs. Sigurd Stovring, (Ruth), Askov, Minn. And many nieces and nephews.
