Description	:	Anton Kenkel was born in Mecher, Luxemberg on September 17, 1870 and came to America at the age of fifteen. He died September 28, 1959 at his home near Earling at the age of 89 years and 11 days. On January 12, 1897 he was united in marriage to Catherine Jacoby and to this union eight children were born. He spent his entire lifetime on a farm near Earling. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the 3rd Order of St. Francis. His wife preceded him in death in 1956. Funeral services were held October 1, at St. Joseph's Church at Earling at 9 a.m.. The Rev. Benedict Kenkel, grandson of the deceased was celebrant of the Solemn Requiem High Mass. He was assisted by Rev. Leonard Kenkel of Mount Bernard Seminary of Dubuque, also a grandson as Deacon and Rev. Basil Finken, O.S.B. of Seneca, Kansas a nephew, Sub Deacon and the Rev. Lavern Wingert as Master of Ceremonies. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter A. Bissen was present in the sanctuary and delivered the funeral sermon. Pallbearers were grandsons: Tony Reinig, Walter Rauterkus, Norman Kenkel, Merle Kenkel, Dennis Kenkel and Neil Kenkel. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery at Earling.
