Description	:	Anton Pierre, for more than forty years a well known Washington township farmer, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Garfield White of Ireton, Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Pierre had been ill with bronchial pneumonia for several weeks and for 21 days had been cared for at the Akron hospital. Read More	Anton Pierre, for more than forty years a well known Washington township farmer, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Garfield White of Ireton, Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Pierre had been ill with bronchial pneumonia for several weeks and for 21 days had been cared for at the Akron hospital. From all indications he had passed the crisis and appeared to be on the way to recovery when at his insistence he was removed in an ambulance Monday to the home of his daughter in Ireton. It was a severe shock for the daughter when she noted a sudden turn for the worse Tuesday and she at once summoned a physician but nothing could be done for him. He had apparently been considerably improved and had been able to partake of his meals and converse with his loved ones just prior to the relapse. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church in Hawarden at 10 o'clock Friday morning and burial will be in the family lot here. Anton Pierre was born in Escanaba, Mich., Ma 12, 1857, and died Jan. 14, 1936, at the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 2 days. He spent his early years in Michigan, coming to Butler county, Iowa, in 1881. On July 26, 1883, he was united in marriage with Kate Weller of Fredonia, Wis. Five children were born to them. Two daughters, Margaret at the age of 7 and Mary Ann at the age of 3, and one son, William, died in childhood. The family came to Sioux county in 1893, settling on a farm in Washington township, five miles east of Hawarden, where they continued to live until last spring when Mr. Pierre moved onto a farm near Akron with his son and family. Mrs. Pierre passed away March 14, 1923. Mr. Pierre was always a hard worker. He was one of the early owners of a threshing outfit in this locality and was considered an expert in that business. His honesty and splendid neighborliness was admired by a wide circle of friends who mourn his death. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Garfield White of Ireton, and one son, John Pierre of Akron, and six grandchildren. The Independent (Hawarden, Iowa) 1/16/1936
