Description	:	Anton was born August 18, 1890, in Lundad, Russia to Joseph and Regina (Hilger) Stein. Anton fought in World War I in the Western Front and lost part of his thumb to a bullet wound. He witnessed the murder by hanging of his father and brother by the Bolshevists and the abduction of his sister who was then taken to Siberia. He was hidden in a haywagon by a priest who brought him to freedom. He immigrated to the United States in the late 1920's where he homesteaded at Bluegrass, ND in Morton County. Anton and Minnie Zentner were united in marriage on November 25, 1930, in Timmer, ND. They moved from the Solen-Cannon Ball area to Bismarck in 1942. Anton was employed by Wachter Transfer for 10 years and also worked for Midwest Motors for six years before retiring in 1950.
