She had been bedfast for the past two weeks. Born in Czechoslovakia, Mrs. Hottovy came to the United States 65 years ago, settling at Dwight. Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Stransky and Mrs. Josephine Hoffman, both of this city, Mrs. Francis Tesina of Dwight, Mrs. Tonly Duffek and Mrs. Agnes Stastny, both of Ulysses, Mrs. Bessie Tomes of Utica and Mrs. Lucy Veskrna of David City, Charles of Ulysses and Leo and Adolph, both of Dwight. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Dwight. Burial will be at Dwight. The body is at the Livingston Funeral Home. '''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), February 1, 1945, p. 8, col. 2 MOTHER OF SIXTEEN HAS MANY DESCENDANTS Mrs. Antonia Hotovy Died at Age of 82 Years Dwight, Jan. 27 – Mother of 16 children, Mrs. Antonia Hotovy, 82, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alfred Stransky, in Hastings at 4 o'clock in the afternoon on January 23, is survived by 111 direct descendants, including 11 living children, and grandchildren to the fifth generation, a record very few have equaled. Mrs. Hotovy had been visiting in the home of her daughter the past three months. Funeral services for Mrs. Hotovy were held in the Assumption church Friday morning at 10 o'clock with Rev. W. Michalicka O. S. B., officiating. The Assumption junior choir sang the Requiem high mass with Sr. M. Majella organist. Miss LaVerne Hotovy of Lincoln, granddaughter of Mrs. Hotovy, sang two solos, one in Latin and one in Bohemian. Rev. Michalicka preached the sermon depicting the fine qualities of Mrs. Hotovy and the good deeds done during her long life. Burial was in the Dwight Catholic cemetery, with the following relatives acting as pallbearers: Charles Hotovy Cox, home on leave from the navy, Bernard Stransky of Hastings, Leo Veskrna of David City, Emil Tesina of Bee, Victor Hotovy of Garrison and Ernest Tomes of Utica. Members of the Rosary society, with which Mrs. Hotovy was officiated, had part in the service. Born in Chotebora, Czechoslovakia on May 14, 1863, as Antonia Maixner, she came to this country and residedin Bruno. After her marriage to Leopold Hotovy, which took place in Abie, a home was established at Dwight, Mr. and Mrs. Hotovy being among the first settlers in this vicinity. After Mr. Hotovy's death February 16, 1925 Mrs. Hotovy continued residence at her Dwight home. Of the 11 surviving children of Mrs. Hotovy there are four sons, John E. of Garrison, Charles of Ulysses, and Leo and Adolph, of Dwight, and seven daughters, Mrs. John Tesina, Mrs. John Stastny, and Mrs. Emil Duffek of Ulysses, Mrs. Louis Tomes of Utica, Mrs. John Hoffman and Mrs. Alfred Stransky of Hastings and Mrs. Louis Veskrna of David City. Mrs. Hotovy was known and loved by all for her kindness. She was a good mother and grandmother, a kind friend to all. Besides the immediate relatives in attendance at the funeral services there were present also from away: John Hoffman and daughters, Charlotte, Miss Bernice Stastny and Mrs. Fred Duffek of Omaha; Bud Miller S 1-c of Norfolk; Misses LaVerne and Marcella Hotovy of Lincoln and the Francis Eiting and Francis Vanderheiden families of David City. __ Card of Thanks – We wish to express our deepest thanks to all who assisted us at time of death of our beloved mother, also for floral offerings and spiritual boquets, especially to the Rev.
