Lauderdale, Fla., at 9:45 a.m. February 14, 1948. She suffered two strokes in July and while never bedfast had to have constant care afterwards. She was 87 years and 2 months old. During the family's residence in and near Geneva Mrs. Goodrich was an active member of the Methodist church and its various organizations and in club work. For many years she taught a Sunday school class. She continued her activities after moving to Florida. The following obituary was written by Mrs. Goodrich in July, 1941: Rosalia Arbel Beals, daughter of Thomas J. and Malinda Beals, was born in a log cabin in Hamilton county, Indiana, six miles west of Arcadia, now Atlanta, December 17, 1860. The family later moved to Fairfield, Howard county, near Kokomo. When sixteen years of age she moved with her family to Lincoln, Neb, and later to Humboldt, Auburn and Peru. She completed the course at Peru state normal school and then taught school nearly three years. May 14, 1885, she was a married to Daniel Huling Goodrich of Geneva, Neb. To this union was born one son. Roy Dale Goodrich, October 15, 1886. The family lived on a farm in Geneva township twenty-three years. then purchased a home in Geneva and moved there in 1907. The family moved to Avon Park, Fla., in 1912 and to Ft. Lauderdale in April, 1914. She joined the Methodist church when she was sixteen years old. She held many offices in the missionary societies and the aid society. She was elected president of the Ft. Lauderdale Woman's club in 1916, the year the club house was built. She is a member of the past president's club. She was treasurer of the Park Temple and society fourteen years and of the Woman's Foreign Missionary society twenty-one years. She was president of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union several years and later was treasurer of that society a long time. Before she was eighty she withdrew from all offices. Not many near relatives are living. She is survived by the son, Roy and a sister, Dr. Della B. Conwell of Des Moines, Ia. The husband died September 21, 1915. Mrs. Goodrich was one of the pioneer residents of Ft. Lauderdale and was noted for her activity in the early social life of the community. She had a keen mind and firm opinions in matters of public interest and often wrote letters to newspapers. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday. February 16, Rev. John Hangar of Part Temple church officiating. At her request the body was cremated and the ashes are to be interred in the family plot beside her husband in the Geneva cemetery.
