Description	:	Archibald came with his parents and many of his siblings from Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania to Richland Township, Wapello County, Iowa in 1851. Archibald received quit a sizable lot of land when his father died in 1853. He set about farming on this for a bit. On September 7, 1854 he wed Mary Nunnemaker in Hocking County, Ohio. It seems that two of Mary's older sisters and their husbands had moved to Wapello County, Iowa before the Forsyth's and were their neighbors after they settled in. Archibald received quit a sizable lot of land when his father died in 1853. He set about farming on this for a bit. On September 7, 1854 he wed Mary Nunnemaker in Hocking County, Ohio. It seems that two of Mary's older sisters and their husbands had moved to Wapello County, Iowa before the Forsyth's and were their neighbors after they settled in. It is likely this association gave Archibald the opportunity to know Mary. They returned to Wapello County after the marriage and Archibald began slowly selling off his inherited land. In 1860 he was a miller, then by 1865 he and his family have moved to Ohio, near Mary's parents. In Ohio he does farming for a time, then turns to coal mining as an occupation, with the oldest of their 10 children, son Noah, also becoming a coal miner. For whatever reason, perhaps the death of Mary's parents, they return to Iowa, locating in Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa by 1897. Noah and his family also move to Oskaloosa and he and Archibald turn again to coal mining. Archibald and Mary live out their lives in Oskaloosa. Died Archibald Forsythe, pioneer passed away Saturday morning, April 15, 1922, at 11:45 o'clock, at the residence of Will A. Stump, 1312 Seventh avenue east, aged almost 89 years. Deceased has been in a gradual decline incidental to old age for almost a year, but not until this week had his condition occasioned uneasiness. The old gentleman suffered a collapse on Monday, since which time he grew worse. Funeral services were held at the late home Monday, April 17, at :00 (sic) o'clock. Interment in Forest cemetery. Records for Cheesman and Powers Funeral Home of Oskaloosa has the entry "Archibald Forsyth 88 years, 10 months, 10 days died April 15, 1922, buried in Forest".
