Read More	Obituary reads as follows: Archie Burch is Dead; Was 90 Years Old and Fought in Indian Wars Archie Burch, 90, resident of Scandia for the past five years died Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Blossom Fisher in Concordia where he had been for the past 18 days. Mr. Burch was born July 22, 1868, at Rock Island, Ill., and moved with his parents as a small child to the Stony Point community north of Concordia. He enlisted as a private in Troop D Seventh Regiment of the United States Calavary and was an Indian Fighter. He was in the Battle of Wounded Knee Creek and White Clay Creek in South Dakota where his troop engaged by a band of Sioux Indians in December 1890. Following his discharge from the army on Dec 28, 1893, he was engaged in farming. On Nov 18, 1900, he was married at Concordia to Ida Frances Campbell and they lived in the Concordia and Miltonvale communities. He later was employed at the Santa Fe railroad and was a retired employee of the railroad. Survivors are his wife; seven children: Mrs. William Maley, Mrs. Floyd Anderson, Charles Burch, Mrs. Blossom Fisher, Mrs. Everett Mendenhall, all of Concordia. John, of Mankato and Herbert, of Scandia; 25 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; two brothers: Ervin Burch of Kankakee, Ill. and Nath Burch, address unknown; one sister, Mrs Will Scott of Marissa, Ill. Funeral Services will be held Saturday afternoon in the Wesleyan Methodist church with Rev. Harold Holenkiss officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The body of Archie Burch will lie in state at the Chaput Funeral home until Saturday noon.
