Ardath earned her teaching certificate from Southern State Normal School at Springfield, S.D., May 29, 1936. She attended Saint Vincent Accredited College of Nursing, Sioux City, Iowa, Feb. 15, 1945. She graduated with honors.rnShe was baptized April 23, 1916, at the Methodist church. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Pierce. Her nursing career started in Bassett, where she worked as a surgical and obstetrical nurse. She worked at hospitals at Norfolk, Omaha and Topeka, Kan. She retired from nursing in 1980. She moved to Hadar in 1983. Ardath had resided at the Pierce Manor since August of 2008. She loved bird watching, doing things with her nieces and nephews and baking cookies, quilting, playing cards. Survivors are one sister, Betty Broer of Lees Summit, Mo., and one brother, Glen and wife Irma Manzer of Pineville, La.; brother-in-law Harold Hilkemann, Randolph; sister-in-law Vivian Manzer of Osmond; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mildred; two brothers, Robert and Chris.rnMusic will be by organist Emilie Harrison with congregational hymns, "Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers will be Steve Manzer, Jim Broer, Mike Schleppenbach, Kevin Hilkemann, Rodger Warneke, Dave Bachman, Will Spreeman. Honorary casket bearers are Robin Manzer, Craig Manzer, Vaughn Profett, Johnny Brewster, Cali Warneke.
