Funeral services will be 10:30am Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:30pm Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Schwendemann was born on November 26, 1929 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Vern W. and Amanda C. (Kehrberg) Schwendemann. She was a 1947 graduate of Burnside Community School. She attended Iowa State Teachers College from 1947-1949. She received her BA in 1951 from Cornell College and did graduate work at the University of Iowa. She married Don Chinburg on June 29, 1952 in Dayton, Iowa. She was employed as a first grade teacher with Clinton Community Schools for 28 years until retiring in 1994. She taught at Irving, Franklin and Henry Sabin Schools. Ardea was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a choir member; the National Education Association, Iowa State Education Association, Clinton Education Association, the American Association of University Women and the Child Guidance Circle where she had held the positions as secretary, treasurer, President and Vice President. She was active with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and Whittier PTA where she was past Vice President and was also a member of P.E.O. She is survived by her husband Don of Clinton; one son, David Chinburg of Jordan, Minnesota; two daughters, Leigh Anne (Douglas) Cutcher of Farmington Hills, Michigan and Carol Thompson of Downers Grove, Illinois; 7 grandchildren, Jenna and Jordan Chinburg, Kyra, Alyssa and Katie Cutcher and Ashley and Jack Thompson and one sister, Lynas Waun of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
