Description	:	Ardella (Erbele) Cook Monroe, 80, a longtime resident of the Morongo Basin, passed away Feb. 21, 2012 at 5 a.m. peacefully in her home. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. March 24 at the Faith Lutheran Church, 6336 Haille Road, Joshua Tree, Calif. Ardella was born to Herbert and Ida Erbele Feb. 8, 1932, in Krem. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. March 24 at the Faith Lutheran Church, 6336 Haille Road, Joshua Tree, Calif. Ardella was born to Herbert and Ida Erbele Feb. 8, 1932, in Krem. She attended Krem country school and graduated from Hazen High School in 1952. After graduating from high school she attended Dickinson Teachers College and taught in a one room country school for three years in Mercer County. After leaving North Dakota she moved to Minneapolis, Minn., and then to Downey, Calif. While living in Downey she worked as an office manager for Wright Engineering. Ardella was president of the Downey Emblem Club (309) in 1971-1972. While living in Downey, Ardella married John Cook. In 1972 they moved to Twenty-nine Palms, Calif., and purchased Desert Stage Lines. John Cook passed away in 1977 and for the next 10 years Ardella was the sole owner of Desert Stage Lines. During that time she was on the Board of Friends of Copper Mountain College, The Board of CALTRNS, and a member of the Soroptimist International of Twenty-nine Palms. In 1985 she purchased Desert Connections Travel from Virginia Williams. In April 1986 Ardella married Vernon E. Monroe. In October 2003, Ardella and Vernon Monroe moved to Yucca Valley, Calif. While living in Yucca Valley she was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Hearts of Yucca Valley, Red Hats and Yucca Valley Elk RV Club. One of her favorite pastimes was to travel in their motor home in the summer times of the year and to go to the Elks RV club camp outs. Ardella is survived by her husband of 26 years, Vernon E. Monroe, Yucca Valley; her brother, Gerald Erbele, Lil-Hwaup, Wash.; nephew Troy Erbele, Mondavi, Wisc.; and her stepdaughter Cindy (Cook) Innie, Chino, Calif. Memorials may be given to Soroptimist of Twenty-nine Palms.
