Description	:	Ardine Opal Mayland was born on February 3, 1919, in Seward County to Walter Ray and Daisy Anna (Sorter) Fry and passed away on May 14, 2018, in Lincoln at the age of 99 years, 3 months and 11 days. Read More	Ardine Opal Mayland was born on February 3, 1919, in Seward County to Walter Ray and Daisy Anna (Sorter) Fry and passed away on May 14, 2018, in Lincoln at the age of 99 years, 3 months and 11 days. Ardine grew up in the Seward area where she attended Seward High School and graduated with the Class of 1937. Ardine taught school in a one room country school near Middle Creek. Ardine was united in marriage to Charles Mayland on July 12, 1942 at Downey, CA, while he was stationed in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. Upon his discharge the couple moved back to Staplehurst to work the family farm and raised their children. Later Ardine began working at the Staplehurst Post Office as a clerk and later as the Post Mistress. She also continued running the farm with the help of her daughter Marlene, until she suffered a stroke and moved to Lincoln over 10 years ago. Ardine was active in the Staplehurst Community Club and Ladies Aide at the Staplehurst Presbyterian Church until it closed. She then attended the Seward Presbyterian Church. Ardine loved raising Appaloosa horses, playing with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking and will be remembered for her sticky cinnamon rolls. Ardine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles “Chuddy” Mayland; son, Chip H. Mayland; daughter, Cheryl Mayland; two brothers, Ray and Howard Fry; sister, Wilma Varner Palmer. She is survived by her two daughters, Marlene Brandhorst Niederschmidt, Oklahoma City, OK, Holly Mayland, Lincoln; three grandchildren, Brenda Davis Ostercamp and husband Scott, Anamosa, IA, Chad Mayland and wife Katha, Papillion, and Tina King and husband Jim, Oklahoma City, OK; seven great grandchildren, Tyler Mayland, Jessica Davis, Aaron Ostercamp, Chase Mayland, Morgan Mayland, Logan King and Alexis King; five great, great grandchildren. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Ardine.
