Brockhaus Funeral Home in Wausa is in charge of arrangements. Ardis died Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Osmond General Hospital in Osmond. Ardis Ann was born July 11, 1930, along with her twin sister Arlis Mae to Walter H. and Pearl S. (Olson) Holmquist, on a farm one-half mile west of Wausa. They were baptized and confirmed in the Wausa Mission Church. Ardis attended Wausa Public Schools, graduating in 1948. She then attended Wayne State College and taught in rural schools. On April 21, 1950, Ardis was united in marriage to John D. Claussen. To this union two children were born: Patricia Ann and David Lee. Ardis was a bookkeeper at the local CPPD, a waitress in local cafes, secretary at Osmond General Hospital, and a typesetter for the local paper. She was also a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Claussen Grain and Storage and Kent Feeds. Ardis was the parish secretary for the Wausa/Randolph United Methodist Churches. Ardis was an avid bowler for many years, attending several State and National Tournaments. She golfed for many years, and was active in the bridge clubs at Rolling Hills Country Club and also at the Senior Center in Pierce, Nebraska. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and enjoyed gatherings of the quilting group. Ardis was a member of the Auxiliary at the Golden Living Center. She enjoyed sports, especially Husker football and volleyball teams, and any college or professional sports. Survivors include: daughter, Patricia (Doug) Tillotson, of Norfolk, Nebraska; son, David (Monica) Claussen of Germantown, Maryland; grandson, Michael (Gina) Reese of Elk Point, South Dakota; twin sister, Arlis Koehler; brother, Richard (Mary Ann) Holmquist; her only aunt, Anita Banks: many cousins, nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband John in 1997.
