Jacobs, 77, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at her home in Frederick. She was the wife of Lee M. Jacobs. Born July 17, 1932, in Beltrami, Minn., she was a daughter of the late Leland Arthur and Margaret Menge Hanson. Ardis attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky. She attended the First Baptist Church of Frederick and served as an active member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Damascus. She was a volunteer at Frederick Memorial Hospital, served as pianist for Glade Valley Nursing Home, and was a member of the Frederick Homemakers Club. For seven years she enjoyed singing with the National Christian Choir. Ardis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend. She touched many lives with the kind graciousness of her Savior. Surviving besides her husband, Lee, are two daughters, Sharon Fraley of Damascus and Robin Cole and her husband, Chuck, of Charlottesville, Va.; two stepchildren, Richard Jacobs and Carol Bonner; three sisters, Marilyn Sipe and Marvel Sims, both of Minnesota, and Arlene Hanson of New York; eight grandchildren, Robin Hunt, Kathy Sizemore, Erin Pickett, Danniel Hunt, Samuel and Hannah Fraley, Kendall and Trent Cole; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia and Peyton Pickett and Reaghan Sizemore. Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by her first husband of 40 years, Robert L. Watkins. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 11900 Bethesda Church Road, Damascus, MD 20872. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 in the church sanctuary. Pallbearers will be Samuel Fraley, Daniel Hunt, Barry Beall, Steve Mullinix, Chuck Cole and Randall Pickett. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
