Ardis Marie (Butler) Ankrum was born on December 15, 1929 in Liscomb, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas Edward and Mayme Butler. She attended and graduated from the Liscomb High School. Ardis Marie (Butler) Ankrum was born on December 15, 1929 in Liscomb, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas Edward and Mayme Butler. She attended and graduated from the Liscomb High School. On December 18, 1949, Ardis was united in marriage to Clifford LeRoy Ankrum. In 1952, they moved to Hubbard where Ardis worked as a hairdresser, owned the Sunshine Cafe and cooked for the State Boys Training School in Eldora. Ardis took great pride in seeing all her children and grandchildren graduate from high school and all six of her children married. She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. She loved Jesus, her family, exploring the country roads of Iowa and the blessings of nature. Ardis passed away July 14, 2011 at the age of 81 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford Ankrum, son Timothy Ankrum, son-in-law Doug Chalfant and five sisters. Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children: Sharmon (Keith) Norris of Mesa, Arizona, Melissa (Mike) Seeley of Ankeny, Iowa, Susan Chalfant of Des Moines, Iowa, Mark (Joyce) Ankrum of Hubbard, Iowa, Teresa (Todd) White of Woodward, Iowa and Lori Ankrum (Rick) McCormick of Lakeville, Minnesota; and her sister Donna (Bob) Bays of Union, Iowa. She was also deeply loved by her eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; along with many other relatives and friends. Her family meant the world to her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
