Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa. Ardith Jean Moore was born March 13th, 1928 in Benton Township, Taylor County, IA. near Bedford to Roy Robert Moore and Goldie Marie Burnham Moore. The family moved South of New Market about a year later. At the age of 5 she and her family moved to New Market where she lived her entire life. She attended elementary and high school where she graduated in 1947. She chose Teaching as a career, to which she was dedicated. It was difficult to retire from teaching in 1990, after 41 years. She attended Clarinda Junior College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1967. She started her career in the fall of 1947 at a country school, Prairie Gem. She laughed and said, "She learned more than the children that first year." She went to Bailey school in Benton Township north of Bedford, Ia. for two years- 1948-1950- then back to Prairie Gem for 3 more years. She was married to James Herren Clark on May 17th, 1953. At that time she chose to be a housewife. But the yearning for the classroom was strongly there and especially the love for children and the desire to help them to attain the best education possible. She always tried to look for the good in a child and told them many times, "You can be what you want to be- set your goals high." In 1955 she taught 1 year at the Thompson school in East River township and then 7 years at the Consolidated school in East River. She came to New Market in 1963 and taught 4th grade for 27 years. She and Jim adopted three children, Kenneth Dean, Kevin Paul, and Tonya Annette. She was Baptized in the Christian Faith by Pastor Rose Mace in 1947, of which she remained faithful throughout the years, serving in various capacities; Sunday school teacher teaching Bible School Church Circle and United Methodist Women, and mission and parsonage committee. Ardith was a life member of the National Education Association, Iowa State Education Association, Iowa Retired Teachers, Retired professional of Page and Taylor County, and former member of Delta Kappa Gamma. In later years, failing health caused her to become inactive. She loved working with children and serving the Lord of which her faith remained strong to the end. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James Herren Clark, her son Kenneth Dean Clark, grandson Aaron Dean Clark, parents; Roy and Goldie Moore, younger sister Wanda Berniece in 1926, her sister Evon Schollian Wyckoff, her brother Raymond A. Moore , her sister Verla Coston and her brother, Dean Moore. She leaves her daughter Tonya Clark Paxton and son-in-law Richerd Paxton, granddaughters, Natalie Stoddard, husband Marcus Stoddard, and great grandson Trevin Stoddard and Amanda Whitmire and husband Jason Whitmire; daughter-in-law Janice Clark; granddaughter Andrea Tally and husband Kevin Tally, her sister-in-law Vera Moore, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and hosts of friends.
