De Reus observed their Golden Wedding anniversary April 22 at their home, 917 First avenue West, Newton, Iowa. Arie A. De Reus and Clara Cushman were united in marriage April 22, 1888, at the home of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Arie Winchell, in Prairie City. They settled on a farm near there, where they made their home for several years. For the past 36 years, they have lived in and near Newton, and Mr. De Reus has been engaged as a farmer and rural mail carrier. Five Children They are the parents of five children, one of whom, Grace, died in infancy. Those now living are Fayette and Fred, both of Rock Island, William F. and Mrs. Mattie Trapp, both of Newton. They also have six grandsons and one granddaughter. Mr. De Reus has eight brothers and sisters living. They are Mattie Vriezelaar of Otley; Peter De Reus of Valeria; Henry De Reus of Colfax; Ned De Reus of Pella; Will De Reus of Denver; Nellie Vander Pol of Oskaloosa; Mrs. Mae Honnold of Winterset and Marinus De Reus of Des Moines. The family group gathered Easter Sunday at the Fay De Reus home in Rock Island, to attend the wedding of the only granddaughter, Agatha, to Alden (Aiden?) Stanford which took place Easter morning. All Are Present All immediate members of the family were present including Mr. and Mrs. A. A. De Reus and Mrs. William De Reus, Mrs. Mattie Trapp, Mrs. and Mrs. Fred De Reus, and Mr. and Mrs. Fay De Rues, and also all the grandchildren were present. Both Mr. and Mrs. De Reus are members of the Lutheran church. Mrs. De Reus is a member of the Service Star Legion, the Legion Auxillary, and the Royal Neighbors of America; Mr. De Reus is a member of the Modern Woodsmen of America, and the Rural Letter Carriers of America.
