Description	:	Obituary Arie Vandergriend was born March 25, 1874 at Barendrecht, Netherlands and departed this life April 1, 1949, at his home near Firth at the age of 75 years and 6 days. He came to the United States with his parents when he was 11 years of age, settling in South Dakota and later moved to Nebraska. He made a confession of his faith while a young man in the Christian Reformed church at Firth of which he was a loyal and faithful member until his death. Read More	Obituary Arie Vandergriend was born March 25, 1874 at Barendrecht, Netherlands and departed this life April 1, 1949, at his home near Firth at the age of 75 years and 6 days. He came to the United States with his parents when he was 11 years of age, settling in South Dakota and later moved to Nebraska. He made a confession of his faith while a young man in the Christian Reformed church at Firth of which he was a loyal and faithful member until his death. He was united in marriage to Johanna Ten Hulzen on February 28, 1901. To this union were born 13 children, three daughters and two sons preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Woltjer of Mancelona, Mich., and Jeanette at home; six sons, Maurice, Clarence A., Ralph G., Wilbur J., Leon F., Dale A.; four grandchildren all of near Firth; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Kroese of Adams, and Mrs. Marie Meenk of Lynden, Wash.; four brothers, Marius, Frank, Will and Clarence of Lynden, Wash., and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home near Firth on Monday afternoon at 1:30 on April 4 and at the Firth Reformed church at 2:00 o'clock. The pastor, Rev. H. W. Kolenbrander conducted the services. Orval Doctor, Billy Kerns, Luke TenHulzen and Wildfred DeVries sang two numbers. Pallbearers were the six sons.
