Read More	Ariel Davis, 96, of Sioux Falls, SD, died January 6, 2013, at Dow Rummel Village of Sioux Falls, SD, where she had been a resident for a number of years. Ariel was born December 2, 1916, in White Lake, SD, to Clark and Frances Sheldon. On June 1, 1935, Ariel married Frank Wallbaum in Clinton, IA. She and Frank had two children, Mary and Dorothy. The Wallbaums ran a family farm ¡n Tipton, IA. Upon the death of Ariel's husband, Frank, in 1941, Ariel moved to Sioux Falls with her two daughters. She attended Stewart School of Business where she earned a Secretarial Degree. On July 11, 1964, she married John Davis in Sioux Falls where they ran Davis Tailors, a successful Tailor and Dry Cleaning business. John preceded her in death on April 5, 2000. Ariel was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Burdette and Ford; one sister, Mildred (Vernon) Niles; husbands, Frank Wallbaum and John Davis; daughter, Dorothy Glerup; and great granddaughter, Jaycee Cowden. Ariel is survived by her daughter, Mary Cowden of Kalamazoo, Ml; son-in-law, Mel (Bobby) Glerup of Highlands Ranch, CO; two step-daughters, Barbara (Larry) Thode of Casper, WY and Mary Lynne Hoyt of Owensboro, KY; sisters- in- law, Dorothy Sona of Sioux Falls, SD, and Helen Sheldon of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Kathy (Tim) Ankney of Richland, Ml; John (Reggie) Cowden of Amherst, WI; Patty (Phil) Gerze of Littleton, CO; and Mike (Kate) Glerup of Wayne, PA; step-grandson, Kelly Frost of Owensboro, KY; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ariel was active ¡n DAR and was past President of the Crippled Children's Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church. She was an accomplished organ and piano player. Ariel enjoyed "making her home" welcome not only to family and friends, but to anyone that needed a little help. She loved gardening, decorating, baking, cooking, and entertaining. She was as comfortable with her hands in bread dough as she was entertaining with a challenging recipe from Bon Appetite magazine. She had a picture of herself with some of her recipes published in the Argus Leader. Ariel was a member of several card clubs. She was also known for her sense of fashion, and always dressed with style. Visitation will begin noon Friday at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue. Services will be conducted at the Dow Rummel Halladay Peterson Chapel at 11:00 am Saturday, with visitation one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Hills of Rest. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Association or Children's Care Hospital
