Description	:	Arlen Lucken, 82, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. Rev. Jan Christensen and Pastor Neil Peck will officiate. Burial will be in Plymouth Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Le Mars. Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2016, with the family present after 3:00 p.m., and a Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Arlen Lee Lucken was born January 18, 1934 on the family farm in Johnson Township, rural Akron, Iowa, the son of Fred and Hope (Morehead) Lucken. He attended Johnson Township country school through the 8th and later high school in Akron. He graduated from Akron High School in 1952. He then took two years of farm operations courses at Iowa State University. He was united in marriage to Donna Hansen on June 12, 1955 in Le Mars, Iowa. To this marriage, four children were born: a son, Brian Jay who passed away at birth, a son Gregg, a daughter Susan, and a son Scott. He served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1957. Following his discharge, he began farming in Plymouth County. After his retirement in 1999, they moved to Le Mars. During his retirement years, Arlen worked at Fuel n’ More for 10 happy years, where he met many new friends and served many customers. Arlen was a very involved member of Plymouth Presbyterian Church, rural Le Mars, where he served as trustee and elder. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club in Le Mars and served as Board Director for Iowa Prairie Bank. Arlen was an active donor with the Siouxland Blood Bank for many years, where he was a multi-gallon donor. He was also very supportive of the Plymouth County 4-H program. He and Donna enjoyed going on many trips with the Good Neighbors Club. He also enjoyed fishing and had been on several fishing trips to Alaska. He also enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Hy-Vee. Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Donna of Le Mars; a son: Gregg (Marilyn) Lucken of Sioux City, IA; a daughter: Susan (Bill) Jordan of Sioux City, IA; a son: Scott (Susan) Lucken of Sioux City, IA; his grandchildren: Elizabeth (Matt) Church, Josh Lucken, Tim Lucken, Allison Jordan, Nick Jordan, and Amanda Jordan; his step grandchildren: Erin Grindberg and Jake Grindberg; his great grandchildren: Kohen Church, Kaulin Church, and Zia Church; his brother: Alan (Marjorie) Lucken of Akron, IA; and his nephew: Kent (Kristin) Lucken of Newton, MA.
