Arley's goiter trouble was of long standing and during his last illness he suffered intensely until God in his infinite mercy relieved him. Arley M. Breckenridge was born on a farm five miles west of Gilman March 14, 1884. He was married to Lettie M. Stout Oct. 29, 1901. To this union a son, Samuel Glen, was born. May 10, 1915, he was married to Nellie Blakely of Des Moines, who survives her husband. He is also survived by his parents, one sister, Mrs. J. L. Daugherty, and one brother, Ray, with a host of other relatives and friends, who are left to mourn. One sister, Maudie, died in infancy. He was a member of Maccabees Lodge, No 25 of Marshalltown. Arley grew to manhood in this community, where his folks have resided many years, and was well known to the people here. Universal sympathy goes out to his family in their loss of a son, brother and husband who was bound to them by tender ties, the severing of which brings grief and sadness unto them. The remains were brought here Saturday evening, accompanied by his wife, Stoner and Evelyn Blakely, S. Breckenridge and wife, the latter two having gone to their son when he was stircken. They were taken to the Breckenridge home. The funeral was held from the Methodist church Monday at 1:30 o'clock, the pastor, Rev. J S. Westfall, officiating. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Beautiful floral offerings were evidence of the love and esteem of friends. Interment followed in Prairie View Cemetery. Relatives from a distance, besides those mentioned, who attended the funeral were Robert Breckenridge and daughter Miss Mattie, R. A. Breckenridge and wife, Newton; Delos Scryver, Liscomb; Mrs. Lettie Breckenridge and son Glen, McIntire; Mrs. H. E. Fanton, H. W. Fanton and wife, Geo. Lampman and wife, Floyd, Delmar and Dale Mooney, C. W. Caton and wife, James Bridgeman and wife, Elmer Bridgeman, Lee Robbins and wife, Mrs. T. P. Robbins, Marshalltown.
