Arlene was born May 17, 1922, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Clara (Kueker) Heine. She was baptized June 5, 1922 and confirmed in 1936, both at St. Paul's-Artesian. Arlene was born May 17, 1922, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Clara (Kueker) Heine. She was baptized June 5, 1922 and confirmed in 1936, both at St. Paul's-Artesian. She was employed with Rath Packing in Waterloo for several years. She then worked at Allen Memorial Hospital where she was recruited by a supervisor from Hawkeye Tech. She had a strong work ethic and became known for her meticulous work. She soon came to be loved by all around her for those qualities. Her willingness to help everyone and her expertise as a cook made it hard for Hawkeye Tech to give her up when she retired in September of 1969. Arlene was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Denver. She enjoyed quilting, reading, baking, playing cards, BINGO and dancing. She is survived by her two daughters; Sandra (Steve) Townsend of Davenport, Iowa and Susan Lott of Addison, Illinois, four grandchildren; Sarah, Rachel, Jeremy (Melissa) and Ryan, one great grandson; Finnley VanVeldhuizen, three sisters; Delores Lynch of Grundy Center, Alice (Arlyn) Hesse of Urbandale, Luella Fortsch of Readlyn, one brother; Fritz (Connie) Heine of Waverly. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Agnes Hennings, three brothers; Erwin, Alfred, LaVern Heine. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church in Denver with Rev. Larry Feldt officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul-Artesian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver and for an hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
