She was born March 9, 1918, at St. Paul, Minn., to Oscar and Freda (Paul) Krech. She was confirmed March 20, 1932, at the St. Paulus Lutheran Church, St. Paul. She was a 1935 graduate of the South St. Paul High School, St. Paul. After high school, she worked at Webb Publishing and later at Montgomery Wards. Read More	RELIANCE -- Arlene Mary Helen Reis, 84, Reliance, died Thursday (Jan. 30, 2003) at Sunset Valley Haven Nursing Home, Chamberlain. She was born March 9, 1918, at St. Paul, Minn., to Oscar and Freda (Paul) Krech. She was confirmed March 20, 1932, at the St. Paulus Lutheran Church, St. Paul. She was a 1935 graduate of the South St. Paul High School, St. Paul. After high school, she worked at Webb Publishing and later at Montgomery Wards. She worked on Montgomery Wards entry in the St. Paul Winter Carnival Parade. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy July 9, 1943, and attended school in New York and Oklahoma. She served as an aviation machinist mate working with the Advanced Trainer Airplanes at the Naval Air Field, Pensacola, Fla. She was honorably discharged Nov. 13, 1945. After her discharge, she returned home at work at the 3M Corporation in Minnesota. She purchased land in Wisconsin along the St. Crois River where her father built a cabin for the family. She enjoyed traveling, making a trip to California with her cousin in a Crosley. Arlene married Dennis Mylon Reis Sept. 3, 1952, at the Hope Lutheran Church, St. Paul. After their marriage, they moved to an isolated ranch with no phone, no electricity and miles from a paved road. During their semi-retirement years, they enjoyed traveling, especially with Ed and Edith Jarousek. Her husband died April 17, 1997. She continued to live on the ranch until May of 2002, when she moved to Sunset Valley Haven Nursing Home, Chamberlain. She enjoyed crafts, especially sewing Barbie doll clothing.
