Arlene Sylvia (Knock) Flitz was born on a farm east of Davis, SD on Oct. 30, 1927, the daughter of Carl and Rena (Bunger) Knock. She grew up on a farm south of Delaware Church, south of Lennox, and attended rural school there. She moved into Lennox with her family in 1945. Arlene Sylvia (Knock) Flitz was born on a farm east of Davis, SD on Oct. 30, 1927, the daughter of Carl and Rena (Bunger) Knock. She grew up on a farm south of Delaware Church, south of Lennox, and attended rural school there. She moved into Lennox with her family in 1945. On Apr. 19, 1947 she was united in marriage to Wilmer Flitz at her parental home in Lennox. Following their marriage they lived in Mitchell, Irene, Sherman and Crooks. They moved back to Lennox in 1969 where they have lived the past 28 years. Her death ended a marriage of just over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her mother on Mar. 27, 1983 and her father on Mar. 28, 1984. Having been in failing health for the past one and one-half years, Arlene died shortly after midnight, Jun. 7, 1997 at the Bethany Lutheran Nursing Home in Sioux Falls where she had been a resident since May 27. She attained the age of 69 years, seven months and seven days. Grateful for having shared her life are her widower, Wilmer; five children and their spouses: LeAnn and Jeff Wheeler of Lennox, Lois and Mike Stanfield of El Paso, TX, Marlin and Deb Flitz of Canton, Lynette and John Foltz of Lennox and Laurie Flitz of Lennox; ten grandchildren; one brother; Vernon Knock and his wife Evalena of Kimball; two sisters: Esther Buskohl and her husband, Dale of Brookings and Ruth Javers and her husband, Richard, of St. Paul, MN.
