Read More	ARLEYNE GILDERSLEEVE ZEARING published on January 03, 2005 Arleyne Marie Lundy Gildersleeve passed away December 31, 2004 at the Isreal Family Hospice House in Ames. Arleyne was born on Southlook Farm northwest of Zearing on January 23, 1920, to Thomas G. and Mary Elizabeth (Allen) Lundy. She graduated from Zearing High School at age 16 and later from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. She taught school in Aurelia and Meriden and then returned to Zearing to be with her parents while their two sons were away in WW II. During that time, she also taught n McCallsburg. Arleyne met Myron Anton Gildersleeve, her husband of 49 years, at a Farm Bureau dance. Myron had moved to Zearing from Nebraska during the depression to live with his brother. Arleyne and Myron were married at the Presbyterian Manse in Nevada on November 23, 1945, after his return form the Pacific theater and his discharge from the Marine Corps. As so many did after the war, Myron and Arleyne moved to Cedar Falls so Myron could finish his degree on the GI Bill at Iowa State Teacher's College. They were living in a quonset hut in Sunset Village when son Allen Myron was born. After graduation, Myron and Arleyne moved to Eldora, where he taught industrial arts. Twins, Mary Jeanne and Merrill James were born there. In the spring of 1950, the young family moved to Broadacres Farm northwest of Zearing, where the would live until Myron's death in 1995. Arleyne returned to Iowa State Teacher's College in the 70s to earn a Master of Library Science degree, and she then worked as a school librarian in Colo High School until she retired. Arleyne lived the last few years of her life in Colonial Manor in Zearing, five miles from where she was born and spent her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Gordon and Paul; and husband, Myron. She is survived by her three children, Allen (Myrla) of Corpus Christi, TX; Mary (Roger) Johnson of Colorado Spring, CO; and Merrill (Norie) of Greenville, SC, and grandchildren, Lundy, Allen, Anna, Ellen, Laura, Evan, and George; also great-grandchild Eliza. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at the Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the Warren Township Cemetery with lunch immediately following at Dorcas Hall in McCallsburg.
