Klett, daughter of Ernst and Frieda (Gutnecht) Klett, was born March 13, 1920 at Galva, IA. She was united in marriage with Donald Hill on June 15, 1947. She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galva. The couple were married 58 years when Don preceded her in death on November 13, 2005. Arline graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA and taught 3rd and 5th grade, was a 4-H leader, and worked as a house parent at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, IA. She enjoyed reading, keeping in touch with friends and family she met along life’s way, cooking, and traveling. She was an avid sports fan but was always happiest when her family was with her. She has made her home in Sioux Falls since 1990. Due to a hearing loss in later life, Arline was unable to volunteer as she would have liked, but she was grateful to all that had patience to understand the problem and keep in touch. Arline had a strong faith and a passion for lifelong learning and although the family didn’t recognize it at the time, virtually every interaction with Arline was a teaching moment that they are very grateful for. Arline’s family was her greatest joy. This consisted of two loving daughters, Ann Hill and Patti (Jim) Hanisch, Sioux Falls; two cherished grandchildren, Kristin E. (Alex) Hofkamp and Kimberlee S. (Phil) Squires; and three precious great grandchildren, Michael and Daniel Hofkamp, and James Squires. She was also very fond of her remaining brother, Gordon Klett, Carlsbad, CA; and her friend in faith, Joyce Cunningham, Sioux Falls, SD; and several nieces and nephews In addition to her parents and husband, Arline was preceded in death by a sister Clara Klett in infancy and three brothers, Fred, Ernest and Otto Klett. Lastly, a favorite memory was the family trip to Hawaii in celebration of Arline’s 90th birthday. In Hawaii the natives don’t say goodbye, but rather “A hui hou” which translates “Until we meet again.” And so dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friends, “A hui hou." - George Boom Funeral Home
