Mrs. Clements died Sunday in her home. The daughter of German immigrants, she was born Sept. 6, 1901, in Artois, then known as Germantown. Her family moved to Willows when she was very young. After graduation from Willows High School, she attended the University of California, Berkeley, then transferred to San Francisco State University, where she earned a kindergarten/primary certificate. She taught for two years at the Phobe Epperson Hearst Kindergarten in San Francisco in San Francisco, then taught kindergarten in the Berkeley school system. She left California with her husband, a professor at Yale University. When he transferred to the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., Mrs. Clements attended the university and earned a master's degree and worked in the university's preschool. Later Mrs. Clements returned to Willows, where she taught kindergarten until retirement. She also taught classes for parents at the high school and continued to teach as a substitute. A member since 1963, she was very active in the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the American Association of University Women, and the Colusi Historical Society. Survivors include a brother, Donald Piper [sic] of Fresno, and two nieces. Rev. Barton Kendrick officiated at the services. Interment followed in the Willows Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at the Trinity Episcopal Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by F. D. Sweet and Son Mortuary in Willows. - Transcribed by E.
